Rugby has thrived in Chiang Mai over the years with many schools, universities, military and Police teams competing in local and regional competitions. Up to now, however, there has been no Northern unifying body to align the clubs, create and manage leagues and tournaments, enhance youth development and ladies rugby and to help promote the sport in Northern Thailand.
Northern Thailand Rugby aims to unify and have a register of teams, players, coaches, officials and medical staff within the Northern regions of Thailand to monitor, mentor and give assistance to our membership.
With the knowledge that only playing knockout competitions limits the ability of players to grow both stamina and skill set, the Lanna Rugby 10s league was created initially comprising four teams. CMU Rugby, Lanna Rugby Club, Payap Rugby Club and TNSU CMI RFC, play a total of nine league games with the last weekend of the season hosting a Cup Final and a Plate Final.
