With an enviable location by the banks of the Ping River, The Banyan Riverhouse Cafe & Bistro on the Grounds of the Buri Sriping Riverside Resort & Spa, is a must visit, especially now with the cool winter winds and clear blue skies.

A charming old wooden house, the Faham Palace where once Prince Sanidh Prayurasakdi Rangsit, along with many other dignitaries have stayed, has been converted into the café and bistro with a lovely river-viewing deck shaded under the giant canopies of a century-old rain tree.

The building itself has been giving a fresh renovation and its glass walls makes for a bright and charming café surrounded by lovely views. Thai, western, international and vegan options will ensure all guests find something for their tastes. There are some full-flavoured punchy dishes from the south such as the spicy sour yellow curry with coconut shoots stem and sea bass for those with a daring palate, or you can go for a milder seabite spicy salad with shrimps or the complex-textured Southern Thai style deep fried fish with fresh turmeric.

Yearning for something from further afield? Try out the fresh homemade pasta with beef ragu, a deep-tasting dish perfect for these cooler months, as is the rich flavoured prawn bisaue soup. For something more quick and casual, you can go for the tortilla wrap with spicy chicken.

Don’t forget to end the meal with a bright and light passionfruit mousse from the Yeast Artisan Bakery. Or just indulge in any of the great daily selection, from red velvet to pain au chocolat.

Sit, eat, sip, take it all in and indulge in the charming venue by the Ping.
