CityNews – Congratulations to Chiang Mai’s 15 fine dining restaurants which were selected by Thailand Tatler as some of Thailand’s Best Restaurants. The criteria is fine dining, which encompasses the setting, service, wine list and food. Chiang Mai has had between a dozen and 15 restaurants featured in this annual publication, sold in bookshops all over the country, for nearly a decade and a half, with many restaurants being selected each and every year, while others are recurring choices and some yet are featured only once or twice.

After Thailand Tatler selects the restaurants, a team of experts personally visit the restaurant anonymously to review them, ensuring impartiality. A total of 234 premier dining outlets were selected around Thailand this year.

Tatler was a British literary and society journal first founded in 1709, though went defunct a few years later. The name was used again when a new magazine was founded in 1901 and the magazine is currently published by Conde Nast, being well known worldwide for its focus on fashion and lifestyle, as well as the coverage of high society and politics. Thailand Tatler has been in publication since 1991.

Chiang Mai’s best fine dining restaurants this year are:

Accha, Allegro, Blackitch Artisan Kitchen, Shangri-La’s China Kitchen, David’s Kitchen, Le Meridien’s Favola, Four Season’s Khao, L’elephant, Le Coq d’Or, Le Crystal, RatiLanna’s Mira Terrace, Mix, X2’s Oxygen, Steak of the Day, Tengoku de Cuisine and Anantara’s The Service 1921.

Each year Thailand Tatler selects six to eight new restaurants to be included.  Other restaurants which have been selected, often multiple times, in years past include Rachamankha, Ruen Tamarind, 137 Pillars House’s Palatte, Akyra’s Italics, Farang Ses.
