Set just off the popular Rachadamnoen Walking Street, and down a charming tunnel of bamboo, sits Chiang Mai’s first boutique hotel, Tamarind Village, a classic Lanna hotel infused with charm and culture.

This peaceful oasis in the heart of the city is the perfect spot to take a break, sit by the pool, and indulge in a sumptuous meal of homemade organic Thai and northern Thai cuisine.

Dishes, crafted and perfected over the years, include our favourite – home stewed red curry is served with tender grilled duck and lychee, wafting aromas of coconut and spices.

We also recommend the prawn pla, where fresh prawns are tossed in herbs and spices and served with steaming hot rice.

The fried fish served with tamarind sauce features the perfect balance of sweet, sour and salty. Then there is the delicious laab, or spicy pork salad, using only the freshest and most organic of herbs.

The wine list is also delightful and this is a great spot to take visiting friends over the holidays for a special experience.

Open between 11am and 11pm daily. There is also live music between 7.30pm and 9.30pm.
