Saruda Finest Pastry

When you add the -est to your name like this, you are going to have to excel. Thankfully Saruda’s pastry chef has managed to do just that and these are definitely some of the finest pastries to be found in the city. Classically trained in Italy and France, the chef uses her creativity as well as techniques to create works of art which are simply divine – both on the eyes and the tongue. Not cheap though, but well worth spoiling yourself over if you fancy a treat. They also do specialty teas, cold drinks and even some homemade-style cookies and cakes for those of us whose tastes may not be so refined. Saruda seems to be not just holding their own, but drawing in an impressive daily crowd who sit road-side with a chocolate mousse watching the world go by, or snapping Insta-images as they indulge in a fancy French pastry in the pretty interior.

The pastry chef recommends tiramisu as one of his highlighted desserts and promises that he hand makes all components from mascarpone cheese to the biscuit. For something a bit fruitier, check out the beautiful looking apple crumble, made from delicious golden and granny smith apples – so delicious, like Eve, you won’t be able to resist it! And if you are looking for something a bit more exotic, go Thai with the durian tart, a local twist to a French classic. Tea Leaf Lab serves a variety of dishes that changes every day using seasonal high quality ingredients, so go on and try some new sweet today!

Pakamon Factory

For over a decade Pakamon Factory has been delighting dessert lovers across the city, as baked goods suppliers to cafes and restaurants. Today Pakamon Factory has opened its very own doors to the public, inviting us behind the scenes and into the swanky renovated venue. Sit back, relax, or even lay down indoors or in the spacious garden under the makiang tree whose fruit was once made into a birthday cake for HRH Princess Sirindhorn. And she is not the only royal that Pakamon Factory has served. Casual, homey and friendly, this place serves a bewildering variety of desserts that are rich in flavour and freshly made. Try the mango pie, a refreshing bite topped with piles of fresh diced mango. The honey cheese cake is another delight with its light creamy texture and the thin honey jelly on top that gives an aromatic sensation to the flavour. Prices are wallet-friendly, so give it a try!
